sharing stories that matter,
no matter the platform

Pitomata Productions is a Māori-owned production company founded by partners Manaia Ward-Tareha and Khan Reihana.
Inspired by the whakataukī, "Iti noa ana, he pitomata," our name reflects what we believe, that even the smallest seed holds limitless potential. Creativity, relationships and kaupapa are at the heart of everything we do.
Established in 2024, Pitomata was created with a simple purpose: to create meaningful stories while building an environment where people feel valued, respected and comfortable being themselves. We believe the best stories begin with genuine relationships.
Today, we produce television, documentary and social media content that celebrates kaupapa Māori and shines a light on the strength, resilience and success of our Māori communities. Our productions include 100% te reo Māori television content such as, Mahi Tika Ana!, with Mahi Tika Ana! Terenga 2 and Kei Whati currently in production. These projects have been proudly supported by Te Māngai Pāho and shared with audiences through Whakaata Māori and Māori+.
More recently, we've expanded into social media storytelling, working alongside Rauhī Limited to capture the journey of tauira at Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae as they prepare for Te Māhepohepotanga 2026. These kaupapa remind us why we started Pitomata — to tell stories that matter, no matter the platform.
